The Gift and Calling of God 2
Last two weeks we started looking into this topic to have a proper understanding of what the gift and calling of God is all about, through the help of the Holy Spirit we were able to establish the two key words; “GIFT” and “CALLING”.
In a nutshell we understood from scriptures that the gift of God is His Son our Saviour Jesus Christ and we understood further that God gave up His only son for our sake when we did not deserve it, when non of us subscribed or lobbied for it. Let us see how Apostle John put it;
In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.(1 John 4:9-10|KJV-
This is the sum total of this gift of God that is powered by love. And knowing that this salvation we received is not of our own merit, we are also enjoined not to boast rather to live sober and quiet in this present world, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.
Secondly we understood through the scriptures that our calling was by predestination. We understood that God called us and placed our destiny in Christ Jesus from the very foundation of the world. We realized that nobody received or will receive this gift of salvation by accident and nobody will walk another through it except the Lord be with him or her.
Today by the help of the Holy Spirit I want us to consider the relevance of the gift and calling of God as Gentiles.
Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ. For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; … And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh. For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;(Ephesians 2:11-15,17-19|KJV-
Apostle Paul in the above scriptures gave us a clear perspective of where we were before the coming of the gift of God (Christ). It is manifestly clear that the Jews are God’s own chosen people and we the gentiles before hand were aliens from this very promise of the Father but Christ by His blood abolished this wall of division and declared us part of the commonwealth of Israel to be partakers of His riches in glory; this is not by our own making, the gentile nations did not Rob mind with God, rather God who by foreknowledge has predestined us to eternal life, sought us through His Son our Saviour Jesus Christ. Hallelujah.
The Lord bless you.
