Who is Jesus: God’s New Residential Address

Two days ago by the grace of God, we started this series to have an in-depth understand of whom our Lord Jesus Christ really is. Beyond philosophy and theology but by revelation, we were able to establish that Jesus Christ is the container that contains all of God in human form. Today we are going to further this bible study;

For us to understand Jesus Christ as God’s New Residential Address, it’s important for us to understand God’s formal address before the manifestation of Jesus Christ;

David said to Nathan the prophet, “Look! Here I am living in this beautiful cedar palace while the Ark of God is out in a tent!” “Go ahead with what you have in mind,” Nathan replied, “for the Lord is with you.” But that night the Lord said to Nathan, “Tell my servant David not to do it! For I have never lived in a temple. My home has been a tent ever since the time I brought Israel out of Egypt.

(2 Samuel 7:2-6|LIVING-

From the above passage, you can see that God acknowledge that His dwelling place has been in the tent in an ark.

David now summoned all of his officials to Jerusalem–the political leaders, the commanders of the twelve army divisions, the other army officers, those in charge of his property and livestock, and all the other men of authority in his kingdom. He rose and stood before them and addressed them as follows: “My brothers and my people! It was my desire to build a temple in which the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord could rest–a place for our God to live in. I have now collected everything that is necessary for the building, but God has told me, ‘You are not to build my temple, for you are a warrior and have shed much blood.’ “Nevertheless, the Lord God of Israel has chosen me from among all my father’s family to begin a dynasty that will rule Israel forever; he has chosen the tribe of Judah, and from among the families of Judah, my father’s family; and from among his sons, the Lord took pleasure in me and has made me king over all Israel. And from among my sons–the Lord has given me many children–he has chosen Solomon to succeed me on the throne of his Kingdom of Israel. He has told me, ‘Your son Solomon shall build my Temple; for I have chosen him as my son and I will be his father.

(1 Chronicles 28:1-6|LIVING-

So to cut the long story short, David was the one that prepared and ready all the building materials while his son Solomon finally built the temple. I want you to take special notice of what happened on the day that temple was dedicated;

Now King Solomon prayed this invocation: “The Lord has said that he would live in the thick darkness; But, O Lord, I have built you a lovely home on earth, a place for you to live forever.”

(1 Kings 8:12-13|LIVING-

When Solomon finished praying, a bolt of lightning out of heaven struck the Whole-Burnt-Offering and sacrifices and the Glory of God filled The Temple. The Glory was so dense that the priests couldn’t get in—God so filled The Temple that there was no room for the priests! When all Israel saw the fire fall from heaven and the Glory of God fill The Temple, they fell on their knees, bowed their heads, and worshiped, thanking God: Yes! God is good! His love never quits!

(2 Chronicles 7:1-3|LIVING-

Although God did not come down physically to dowel in that temple but they was visible manifestation of His glory that fills that temple which signifies His presence in that temple.

So God’s location or Residential address as far as the old testament is concerned was in the ark that was housed in the temple. We saw how sacred that temple was to the extent that a high priest who is serving therein must be pure before entering it otherwise, death will be the result. But as time went on, something happened and the glory of God departed Isreal

Then the glory of the LORD departed from off the threshold of the house, and stood over the cherubims. And the cherubims lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight: when they went out, the wheels also were beside them, and every one stood at the door of the east gate of the LORD’S house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.

(Ezekiel 10:18-19|KJV-

And the messenger answered and said, Israel is fled before the Philistines, and there hath been also a great slaughter among the people, and thy two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the ark of God is taken. And it came to pass, when he made mention of the ark of God, that he fell from off the seat backward by the side of the gate, and his neck brake, and he died: for he was an old man, and heavy. And he had judged Israel forty years. And his daughter in law, Phinehas ‘ wife, was with child, near to be delivered: and when she heard the tidings that the ark of God was taken, and that her father in law and her husband were dead, she bowed herself and travailed; for her pains came upon her. And about the time of her death the women that stood by her said unto her, Fear not; for thou hast born a son. But she answered not, neither did she regard it. And she named the child Ichabod, saying, The glory is departed from Israel: because the ark of God was taken, and because of her father in law and her husband. And she said, The glory is departed from Israel: for the ark of God is taken.

(1 Samuel 4:17-22|KJV-

And in the fifth month, on the seventh day of the month, which is the nineteenth year of king Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard, a servant of the king of Babylon, unto Jerusalem: And he burnt the house of the LORD, and the king’s house, and all the houses of Jerusalem, and every great man’s house burnt he with fire.

(2 Kings 25:8-9|KJV-

So brethren, you can see from the forgoing scriptures that how the ark of God was taken and how His house where He supposedly lived was destroyed by mere men but here is the admonition of Apostle Paul in this regard;

“God blessed David greatly, and David asked for the privilege of building a permanent Temple for the God of Jacob. But it was Solomon who actually built it. However, God doesn’t live in temples made by human hands. ‘The heaven is my throne,’ says the Lord through his prophets, ‘and earth is my footstool. What kind of home could you build?’ asks the Lord. ‘Would I stay in it? Didn’t I make both heaven and earth?’

(Acts 7:46-50|LIVING-

After the glory departed Isreal, there was a total period of spiritual silence untill Jesus Christ was born, Isaiah ahead of time caught the revelation that His name will be called Emmanuel, meaning, God with us; so this is God returning again in another form and shape.

Hallelujah! Indeed our God does not live in a house made by any human neither can any confine Him in a box or anything called ark. God permitted the arlo be taken away and the temple at Jerusalem to be destroyed just to prove this point that He revealed through Apostle Paul and to His faithful believers all over the world.

The next appearance of God to Isreal after the ark was captured and the temple destroyed was in Jesus Christ. God came down again to dowel among His people this time not by His glory as in the formal but by taking upon Himself human flesh. At baptism and at mount of transfiguration, we heard Him re-echo Christ to the entire world as His new residential address.

Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me,, (3754) the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father (2532) seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

(John 4:21-24|KJV-

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. … Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.,,,

(John 14:6,8-11|KJV-

And finally brethren, for anyone who is seeking after God today; God can only be found in Jesus Christ, outside Jesus Christ, there is no God for He is the Way, the Truth and the Life and nobody can come to God except through Him. Jesus Christ is the wisdom of God unto salvation and He cannot be known in any school of theology neither can any come to Him by will, for it is only those whom the Father called from the foundation of the world that can come to Him, there are the only ones that can truly conform to His image and they are the ones to whom He will reveal Himself to.

Prayers

Blessed redeemer, there is non beside you and there is non to be compared to You. Thank you for making Him both Lord and Christ that through Him all the families of the earth be blessed, continue to reveal Him to us till we reach that perfection that is only found in You through Jesus Christ our maker! Amen.
