How the Spirit relate with the spirit (The 3 Fold Commission)

It is not possible to know and access the Father without knowing Jesus Christ because He alone is the door to the Father. Likewise, nobody can have the revelation of the Son until the Holy Spirit in His office as the Spirit of Truth reveals Him to you.

Head and book knowledge suffices where we are to understand physical things around us but when it comes to understanding divinity and supernatural existence of God, our spirit needs to unit with the Spirit of God to be able to gain access to the mystery of God.

Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever, he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you.

(John 16:13-14|KJV

The Holy Spirit is the mouthpiece and demonstrator of God’s intent and reality in the lives of believers. He has been commissioned by the LORD of host to guide the hearts of men into the substance of God through reproval of sin, righteousness and judgement.

And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

(John 16:8|KJV

1. Reprove the World of Sin

Of sin, because they believe not on me;

(John 16:9|KJV

The Holy Spirit alone has the commission from God to make men turn away from their sin, when we preach to convert unbelievers into the fold of Christ, it is not by our power or oratory of speech that they are changed but by the convicting power of the Holy Spirit. The holy Spirit through the word (Rhema) spoken by the preacher brings the unbeliever to the point of detest for his or her sin and surrender to the will of Christ. We can see an instance of that on the preaching of St. Peter on the day of Pentecost.

Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

(Acts 2:37-38|KJV

2. Righteousness

Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;

(John 16:10|KJV

Nobody remaining in this human flesh can live a righteous life outside the leadership of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit in His commission for righteousness is to bring us to the reality that it is possible to live on this earth and be righteous. This is because Jesus Christ walked through this earth as a man without sin and has left for us a pattern to come after Him to where He has gone (to the Father). The Holy Spirit is the one who points us to the right path to follow in our daily Christian lives so we will not sin against God, it is when we are disobedient to His leadership or loves our lives more than His that we fall into sin but He is always there with our spirit giving instructions as to how we should act and talk. Let see an example:

But beware of men: for they will deliver you up, to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; And ye shall be (1161) brought before governors and kings for my sake,, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles. But when they deliver you up,, take no thought, how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

(Matthew 10:17-20|KJV

3. Judgement

Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

(John 16:11|KJV

The Holy Spirit has been commissioned to place the devil where he belong. It is no longer news that Christ has defeated him on the cross 2000yers ago, yet the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers reminds him of that victory by keeping him beneath our feet. When as believers we are faced with demonic or satanic attack, it is not by shouting that the devil gives way but through the work of the Holy Spirit in us when we call upon the name of Jesus Christ that reafirm the judgement of the cross upon him. So a live without the Holy Spirit cannot overcome the devil. Let’s see an example:

And God wrought special, miracles by the hands of Paul: So that (2532) from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them. Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so. And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

(Acts 19:11-16|KJV

Finally friends, these are the 3 commissions of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers and over the the earth. In our next class by next week Monday, we shall consider the 3 fold ministry of the Holy Spirit. May the peace of God keep your heart and mind in the knowledge and love of God. Amen.
