Ostentatious Religiosity: Love for the unseen God
Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. … Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.(1 John 4:7-9,11-12|KJV
Love is what I defined as a tender care and affection towards another which usually propels sacrifice as a prove thereof.
God is a true definition of love; after the disobedience of man, the world was left under siege of generational rebellion and disobedience unto God, the devil was the pioneer of this act of disobedience and brutality but God in His mercy and tender love for mankind sent His only Son Jesus Christ; though is God but took the manner of a man to die for our sake and have reconciled us with God through the blood of His eternal covenant.
From the days of the scriptures uptil now, no one has seen God, forget any stories of any body telling you that he has seen God, not even from those who claimed to have died and saw God and came back to life. Yes people die and mysterious came back with messages which they claimed came from God but the truth remains that no man can see God and live.
We saw God through Jesus Christ; the reality is that there were men who saw this Jesus face to face, they sat under His teaching and bore witness to all He did and said, this can be seen in the light of the following scriptures
To whom also he showed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God:(Acts 1:3|KJV
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us; That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.(1 John 1:1-3|KJV
It is for this reason that we who did not see but believed in Him. We don’t just believe Christ to be God and Lord alone, we believe that He was made man for our sake and died for us, we saw the love of God through Him and this has compared us to love one another.
and the way to find out if their message is from the Holy Spirit is to ask: Does it really agree that Jesus Christ, God’s Son, actually became man with a human body? If so, then the message is from God.(1 John 4:2|LIVING-
God’s love is what compares us today to accommodate one another, this is the very first way to know those who have God in them. You cannot claim to love God and hate your brother, we have seen even in church today how division and sentiment has divided the body of Christ, yet people still sing and dance in the presence of God when the next person sitting close by is an archenemy.
The passion for God is one that must start with one another. Our relationship with people we see will determine how we love God that we have not seen. We love God by looking out for those around us, people don’t just fall from the sky, everyone you see on earth today is a precious one Christ died to save so we have no right to love some and hate others. When you refuse to love someone you don’t know, how then do you claim to love God that you have not seen?
We have not seen God but through Christ, we saw His reality and experience Him in our lives, the life we are living is a life of love, the Church is built on the Love of God, that is why we must co exit in love for God and for one another. Don’t just love only the beautiful ones, reach out too to those ones you know that are lonely and unreached; spent time and resources with people, don’t always expect anything in return, don’t show love in exchange of favour but love because God loves us unconditionally.
We live in a world that condemns but as children of God, we must always remind ourselves of the love of the Father. There are people around us today living is loneliness and rejection, they don’t need money or food, just a word of love is enough, they are people with all kind of addiction and brokenness, they don’t need us to remind them of hell just the love of the father can turn their stories. Jesus Christ demonstrated compassion even unto death and has called us to do the same for those around us. Remember that the measure of our love for God will start with our love for our brothers.
Prayers– Blessed and most Holy God and Father, we thank you for this beautiful day that you have made and have reminded us once again of the Father’s Love; make us steadfast in loving you and loving our neighbors, grant us openness of heart to go extra mile loving people for your sake so that by the end of this age we will be counted part of your eternal joy through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
