Religiosity

Ostentatious Religiosity- Spiritruism

I coined this word from the words ” spirit and truth” following the response of Jesus to the Samaritain woman;

Jesus replied, “Believe me, dear woman, the time is coming when it will no longer matter whether you worship the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem. You Samaritans know very little about the one you worship, while we Jews know all about him, for salvation comes through the Jews. But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way.

(John 4:21-23|NLT2013-

So from the wisdom of Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit, in response to the question the woman asked in the preceeding verse which formed the key study of our topic, we can now see that it is no longer taken into account as to the particular geographical location or denomination where one goes to worship the Father. To identify true worshipers, Jesus went further to hint us on their characteristics which are that such person who claim to be a true worshiper must be one who worship in truth and in spirit.

The first understanding is that God is Spirit and Jesus Christ is Truth by virtue of his incarnation, Childhood, baptism, suffering, death and resurrection.

To worship God in spirit starts from when you acknowledge that God is Spirit and Cannot be reduced to physical locations and denominations; he does not need to be restricted to a particular building. The Spiritual relationship expected of us with God is one which cannot be fathom with human wisdom, anyone trying to determined this worship relationship might be wrong in his judgement because it takes the Spirit of God to understand the spirit of a man because the Lords Spirit searches all things.

To worship God in Truth consist of following the footsteps of Christ, it’s a physical following by looking out for those characteristics He has while on earth. Since Christ did not steal while on earth, it becomes truth that anyone who claim to worship in truth should be find in same light with Christ. One of the most important Truth about Christ is that He went about doing good; this same features has to be seen in the life of a believe to qualify as a true worshipper. On this subject, one can easily look at another and conclude as to whether he or she worships in Truth because Truth is never hidden but always exposed to light. Through the life style of a man made available overtime, one can easily conclude as to the fact that such worship in truth.

Just as we can determine who worships in truth, it is not within our realm to determine who worship in spirit because human beings as we are, we are not spirit being but mere mortals. It takes the Spirit to understand the spirit.

Spiritruism is the total worship of God in spirit and in truth. The two must be effective in the life of a man to be qualified as a true worshipper of God. So let no one deceive you with physical activity (truth). Yes you can look at the works of a man and be tempted to conclude but always remember that it is only God that knows the heart (spirit) of such man as to his sincere adoration to Him.

As best as we knew Jesus while on earth, he performed all sorts of miracles and proclaimed His sonship but many who saw that truth was still in confusion and doubt until the hour of His death and resurrection. In fact at the point He died, the bible made it clear that one of the soldiers at the cross confirmed it that Jesus is indeed the Son of God that is to say that the manifestation that took place at the hour of His death was beyond what they knew about Him. His resurrection up-till today cannot be explain by any scientists because it took the Spirit of God to bring Him back to life; so these things are beyond our wisdom and as far as the manifestation of the Spirit is concerned unless the Lord chose to reveal it to His children. This same way no one knows the heart and thoughts of another man, you can know them by their acts and works but their spirit activities is not within your comprehension but left for God alone to search it out.

That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets. No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. And we have received God’s Spirit (not the world’s spirit), so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. … Those who are spiritual can evaluate all things, but they themselves cannot be evaluated by others. For, “Who can know the Lord’s thoughts? Who knows enough to teach him?” But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.

(1 Corinthians 2:9-12,15-16|NLT2013-)

On a final note, the Lord is the one who searches the hearts of men, and reveals to believers as such, so until the Lord reveals to you, you might be wrong in your judgement as to the validity of one’s true devotion to God. By having the mind of Christ which was our inheritance at spiritual birth in Him; it becomes necessary for the purpose of discernment for God to open our eyes to see beyond the physical (truth) into the deep things of God.
