Greetings to you from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and peace upon the Church, I am glad to welcome you once again to The School of the Spirit and it’s my prayers that the Lord will enlightened our heart and mind towards His good will. Amen
Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings, with the Samaritans. (John 4:9|Kjv
The truth of the gospel is characterised in reaching out to nations irrespective of language, people, and tribe. This can be seen in the life style of Jesus Christ during His earthly ministry; the bible recorded that upon His anointed, He went about doing good, healing all that is afflicted of the devil and so on. Christ purpose was not to show that He is more powerful than Elijah and other prophets but that through Him those who live in the valley of the shadows of death will see a great light.
This is exactly the ministry that Christ handed over to the church; Mathew 28:18-20. The reason while we are save is to show forth the glory of God and to bring to light those who are be clouded by darkness. It is a call for out reach as against showmanship of any sort, it is not a calling of intimidating others and judging others; it is a call to acknowledge everyone by their weakness and let them see the person of Jesus Christ as the one and only perfect saviour.
From our text above, the Samarian woman understood the bound of relationship that exist between the Samaritans and the Jews; Jesus on the other hand is been guided by the scope of His Ministry (Act 10:38) and have no time considering historical difference that existed among them.
As a child of God, it is not out of place for the world and it’s system to remind you of the age long battle between light and darkness; all that matters is the course we are here to pursue which is Christ in you, the hope of salvation. Christianity is not a call for jurisprudential and theological argument, it is not a ground to prove a point to your kinsmen that you are not born to be a failure, it is not a place to select those to talk to and those not to greet, it is not a place of public announcement of your good deed but a place to show forth the light of Christ through selfless living and compassionate dealings.
This is just an introduction, many people today have argued that religion has done more harm than good to our society and this topic will help us to understand how true that has been, I remembered a friend once told me that one of the ways to reduce noise from churches is to begin to tax them on their income and assets… all these and more are some of the issues we will be considering under the Ostentatious Religiosity. God bless you
Prayers: Almighty and blessed Father, thank you for the grace you have given us to see another new month in this year of the Lord, help us to take into heart those things that are pleasing to you alone and help us to renounce every work of flesh that our works and worship maybe acceptable unto your Holy name Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
