Prayers for those in Authority

Almighty and eternal God, thank you for another new week in the land of the living. We return all thanksgiving and adoration to you because from January to December you remain the same; even with all the changes around the world you remain unchanged, the ancient of days, King of kings, dependable God, to you our refuge and defender be glory and majesty forever and ever. Amen.

Prince of Peace, we commend before you this day those you have set ahead of us in governance all over the world, most especially our President Mohammed Buhari and his vice, Yemi Osibanjo, bless them with right judgement and sound mind that in all their dealings, the nation of Nigeria will witness her increase and our God shall bless us.

Grant them the Spirit of the fear of the Lord, make them true and faithful leaders, incline their hearts and minds to the sufferings, the neglected, the poor and the uncivilized. Deliver them o mighty God from all evil, may they continue to be shining example of servant leadership in the manner which your Son Jesus Christ came to us.

We commend before you Governors and their deputies, King of heaven, help them to dispense their obligations in utmost good faith and in the fear of God, that in their time, out hills and valleys shall be filled with seasons of plenteousness.

For the Law makers we prayer and ask that you bless them in love and unity, equip them with the knowledge of your truth so that evil and ungodliness will not be found among the approved laws in our society. We rebuke every spirit of division among them and pray for true peace and genuine brotherhood among them to the glory of your holy name.

We commend before you those in the Judiciary, starting from the Chief Justice of the Federation to those in the Bar. Merciful God, may justice and truth rule in our courts. May those who to run to them find true relieve for their grievances. Protect the judges from pressure and temptations of all kinds, grant the the Spirit of boldness and fear of the Lord.

Finally, bless all who work under the civil service with the the blessings of God the Father. Grant them your protection and promotions, deliver them from slotfulness, make the patriotic in duty and faithful in service. Grant them long life and good health to enjoy the fruits of their labour through Jesus Christ our Lord who is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, One God now and forever. Amen.
