Today in the Christian church worldwide we remember the very birth of the blessed virgin Mary; the very channel through which our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ came to us as man.

The bible did not make reference of the birth of Mary but history has it that the name of her mother is saint Anne and the father saint Joachim.

The very point of this feast is the fact that Mary kept herself pure while she was growing up as a maiden that granted her the favour of God. She was betrothed to Joseph (Matthew 1:18) when the Angel of the Lord appeared to her with the message of the birth of Christ.

And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favored, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favor with God. And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. (Luke 1:28-31|KJV-

• God choose the womb of Mary to bring to pass the prophecy of Christ the Messiah; today God can still choose you to birth possibilities in your family, community and nation, all it takes is holiness and fear of the Lord.
• In life your background does not matter to God, it may matter to men but all God look out for in a vessel He want to use is willingness and purity.
• Many thought that Jesus would be born in a wealthy home but God Choose the lineage of Jacob and Joseph from the Nazareth (the most insignificant city) and brought forth our Saviour; God is God all by Himself, He does not need the wisdom of men to execute His plans so hold on to Him for He will do that which is pleasing unto Himself in your life

The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary is not just a feast worthy of commemorating but also a day of prayers and Thanksgiving to God for sending forth His Son Jesus Christ made of a woman to bear our sins and reconcile us to Himself through the Blood of His eternal Covenant.

Almighty God our creator, thank you for the birth of Mary whom you showed your favour by making her a means to bring forth our Saviour Jesus Christ into this world. You honoured her and called her blessed. Cause that we all who share in the salvation of the Risen Christ be honoured in your heavenly kingdom and cause that this day we will receive your word with faith in our heart through Jesus Christ the Son of Man. Amen.
